An idea for a bold/slightly eccentric male suit?

Lyubomir G asked:

I am looking for a bold suit, for a more casual school prom.
I have considered a combination of black tie, with a waistcoat and perhaps a suit, which does not match, for a more individual style, rather than a business suit or a tuxedo.
Can anybody post some ideas, or websites please?

How about a Mandarin suit? It’s Chinese style in the front and collar. My ex wore it at our wedding..and no, that’s not why we’re divorced, he did look dashing. snake eyes

Well it depends. Do you want a black suit? Maybe a dark blue one would be good. There’s also some good ideas on this site I know. I’ll inlcude it. Here, Under the tab, you may also want to look under accessories and trends.

Hmm, since you seem to be going for a more casual and eccentric look, yet this is still bieng called “prom”, think about the usual items that you have creative leanway with, mostly your belt and your tie. If you get a slightly more out there belt, not a huge buckle or anything too loud but something definately different, and a funkier tie that still can pass as being appropiate. For the shirt, go with either black or white, depending on which one suits you and/or the tie better. Pretty average, maybe with a few accents that aren’t exactly normal. Find a business-like blazer or something that you can just put over that and make it look more like a suit, perhaps with slight stripes or a more adventurous cut. The pants shoudl probably reflect the direction that you take with the top, maybe with stripes or a small, slightly noticable design. Shoes you have a decent amount of leanway with since it is more casual, but still make sure that they appear dressy enough. I have a pair of Clarks that serve as both dressy and semi-casual that usually work well with something of this sort. From there, anything else you add on can make it more eccentric. If you have a hat or a watch or something that says something you want to say, go for it. locomonohijo

I think a suit from McQueen would really be good, its eccentric but not too the point people start thinking you gay. Go AlexanderMcQueen.com and look at the suits Meto123

I’ve always liked high-fashion, slightly eccentric, not-so-typical suits on men for dressier occasions. It’s a little GQ, but I like velvet suits on men in very dark, rich colors like a deep, deep midnight blue, black, or a deep, deep plum. A suit like that mixed with a shirt and tie in a contrasting color would really stand out. Eames
