Best way to carry a concealed gun in a business suit?
I have a concealed carry permit. please no anti-gun comments they are not necessary nor are the helpful.
I am starting a new job and will be wearing a suit everyday. What is the best way to concealed carry in a suit. I will not be in the jacket all day so it has to be more concealed the simply under the jacket.
I need to conceal a subcompact pistol. It is a Ruger LCP .380
Right now I am trying out/using an ankle holster but would prefer a more readily reachable location. Such as some form of under arm or behind back conceal.
It can not show when I am not wearing the jacket or be overly restrictive. What do you suggest? I also am trying to stay away from belt/in waistband holsters (unless you know are a very comfortable/non restrictive one). What do you think?

Maybe fit it onto your head with a hat over it. Of wear a fanny belt or man’s purse with it inside. Or in holster under your shirt below the armpit, but it would be easier to access from the ankle than unbuttoning shirt to retreive it should you need it. Happy
Consult a shop that carries conceal holsters to see what other types are available. If you are looking for one that doesn’t show when the jacket is off, you may be stuck with an ankle type. SkyPilot
I would highly recommend that you leave the handgun at home for the first 6 months of employment. Then, try carrying it in the pocket of your overcoat.
I used to have a CC permit and also worked for a business that allowed people to carry their guns concealed. Ironically, the business I worked for had MACHINE GUNS in their offices, but one clown used to come to work with his 9mm pistol – just to show-off that he had a permit. I was like, “What the hell. If trouble broke-out in our high secure building, I would be reaching for one of the dozens of machineguns that we have on the premisis, not some stupid little pistol. nickdc1960
There is an undershirt with an elastic pocket under the arm. I have seen one and it looked like what your searching for. It would be a horizontal draw You can either leave a button undone or shred them to draw. It didn’t look to breath well, so I wouldn’t recommend it for a hot environment, but a climate controlled office would do just fine.

I us a pocket holster in my right front pocket. This has worked for my Kel-tec P 11, keltec 32 and my Ruger with no problem. Good luck. Ceej
Well as soon as you take your jacket off, it effectively eliminates most practical options for concealment that would allow an effective quick draw. So, the ankle is probably the way to go.
Sure you could rig up something to go under your dress shirt, or in a modified pants pocket, but you wont really be gaining an advantage over an ankle carry.

First, you want to be sure that your new employer won’t have a problem with you packing heat on the job. Then, look for a holster to wrap around your abdomen, and buy some dress shirts with Velcro closures and dummy buttons. (no, not “Obama/Biden” pins, though that could fool some potential assailants) You may need to look at uniform or costume supply shops for these shirts. RDG78
Check the tactical gear section of such places as or or any of the places that sell tactical gear. There is an undershirt that is made specifically for carrying the type of gun that you are asking about. You wear the undershirt just as you would any undershirt except this one has a pocket in it made specifically for carrying a concealed handgun. They also make shirts with a hidden velcro panel under the breast pocket which you can open quickly to access your handgun that is in your hidden undershirt holster. They also have shirts that look like a regular button up shirt but it has a velcro front that can be quickly torn open to access your handgun.
Another form of deep concealed carry involves a holster that fits in your groin area under your pants. No, I am not kidding, that is where you can carry your subcompact handgun if you wish. It is sort of like a fanny pack that you wear inside your pants with the pouch in front. You simply reach down in the front of your pants to access it. If you thrust your hand down the front of your pants, you can easily access your gun (firearm). This is a great way for joggers to carry a concealed weapon. Imagine that you are standing at the urinal in a restroom and a bad guy decides to rob you. Won’t he be surprised when you turn around with a different gun in your hand than he is expecting. CIH(Ret)
A pocket holster works very well as long as the pants are loose enough to allow easy access but with deep enough pockets to keep it concealed. The other options are the belly band holster and the undershirt with integral holster under the arm. Chris
Ankle holsters are one of the worst options for concealed carry
In almost any instance that you would need your gun it would be too hard to get to and impossible to get to discreetly if you miss the first opportunity
Get a pocket holster and either carry in your strong hand front pocket or in your back pocket like a wallet
Or better yet pay the $5 tax stamp/transfer fee and get a wallet holster that allows the gun to be shot while still in the wallet
Smart carry is a good option for your attire as would the elastic T-shirt with Velcro buttons vangion
My first thought is a pocket holster like uncle mike’s inside the pocket holster. Believe it or not my brother carried a Ruger SP-101 .357 magnum in jeans with no problem!
My second suggestion is a belly band. Andy
