Dance Girl asked:

I’m a female, about to graduate college with my business degree, and I would like some tips about how to interview…anything would help!

1. What color suit do you think is most appropriate? Black, gray, beige, etc.

2. Do I need to have a briefcase, or would a nice folder be fine?

Any other tips??

Thanks!!! I will definitely choose a best answer.

Some of this is dependent on what kind of job you are going for or the kind of company. Over all however I think a dark suit would be most appropriate. You don’t need a briefcase a folder is fine. Make sure you have a copy of your resume and a list of references with you. You might also prepare in advance some questions in case they are not covered in the interview. At some point the interviewer should ask if you have any questions? Be prepared, check your list to see if anything has not been covered. Also find out as much about the company as you can, check their web sites etc. Try to let them know that you have done your homework. Good Luck. Don

I went to a business school and had to take a course on how to interview. I was skeptical at first but figured I’d try what I learned. And, it did work like a charm!

A suit whether it be a skirt or trousers with small heel dress shoes is fine. Go with black, gray or navy blue. Don’t wear a lot of makeup, perfume or jewelry as that is a big turn off with interviewers. Don’t chew gum or have candy in your mouth. That’s a no no.

When you meet the person who is going to do the interview, shake their hand and smile. Be pleasant and up beat. No negativity at all, be positive about your self.

While you sit facing the person who is doing the interview. Don’t slouch in the chair and don’t cross your legs. Sit with your legs normally and no arms on the arm rests of the chair. Hold your hans on your lap. Keep eye contact at all times with the interviewer and smile a lot. Stay positive and pleasant don’t say anything negative.

It will be fine if you have a nice folder with you. Just don’t have any loud color or some obnoxious picture on it. I always used a folder and it worked out just fine.

When you are done with the interview. Shake the person’s hand again and thank them for thier time. They like that when you do that.

Good luck with your interview. I hope you get the job! Purple Roses
