Can I actually wear a black 3-button suit without a tie?

I will be attending a business casual event. However, I’ve purchased a black 3-button suit. I’m wondering if I can turn it into a more business casual style by wearing it with a shirt without a tie.

yes, you can. I’ve seen a model from designer clothes online wearing a Ralph Lauren black label 3-button suit and he has no neck tie and it looks good. fork8210
I could see it working. Business casual tends to imply non-matching jacket and pants, but a tie-less suit seems reasonable enough. Don’t forget the white handkerchief in the front pocket. blacktieman
