Can i wear a light grey suit to prom ?

I am wondering whether i can wear a light grey suit to the prom, i have a blue shirt and a darker blue. People have said it looks to much like a business/work mans suit.
Can anybody tell me if this suit is ok, because im freaking out about it.
Also can anybody reccomend any better shirts and tie combos to go with my light grey suit ?
The suit is for a prom and i did not really want a black suit as everyone has one.

good job for trying to be an individual! And for your shirt and tie combo, match your date’s dress! It makes you guys look like you went together and it compliments the girl’s dress, which they love! Have fun at prom! I suggest making the tie darker than the shirt and suit though, so you have a focal point

I guess it depends, it’s hard to tell just from your description. My advice would be just to go with a normal black suit. Georgia
