Taupe is really neat with navy, black......any color suite really. To me it just has a lot of classy undertones. Also taupe goes with every color in the rainbow and makes your feet look pretty and doesn't take away from the outfit. But, if you don't want to invest in another pair of shoes or worry about breaking in new shoes during your convention, you could probably pull it off with the right accessories, like a stylish scarf with navy and black in it.
