Currently works in Tokyo (business suit). What should I wear for winter?
I work in a company in Tokyo, and that usually entails having to wear a business suit to office everyday.
Now, I came from a tropical country, so I’m not entirely sure what to do with the upcoming cold. Should I wear a coat over my business suit? Trench coat? Gloves? Scarf? Boots? Knee-length socks? Can I stack a multitude of garments under and over my business suit?
Although I’m not sure how cold it’s going to be. But last year, it snowed here. But not every year. Meaning it’s hovering around freezing point, give or take a couple of degrees.
That’s still very very cold for a tropical archipelago country person that I am. Autumn has just started to crawl over the country and I’m already shivering. What more when winter starts to take over right?
Oh, and I’m guessing they’ll heat the office. Right now it’s mild and very un-Autumn-ish at my workplace. Sometimes it gets hot even. While people are puffing mist outside.
That’s the gist of it. I can take cold temps, as I sleep with the air conditioner blowing on my head back at my home country. But I’m worried once I get outside.

just go to shinshi fuku no KO*NA*KA and ask someone in the store. they will gear you up japanese salarymen style. نشمتابنتشسن
Pretty much observe what the other folks do and emulate them. Generally its a long coat/some trenchcoats (depending on your style) worn over your business suit. Depending on how formal or informal, people also wear sweaters over their dress shirts and of course it will be under your business jacket. Gloves and scarfs are optional, boots I don’ see that much unless you live in a snowy area. TokyoE
You worry too much.
Japan has a lot of stores that sell winter clothes even for salary man, but be careful if you are too tall of wide because they don’t have those sizes here (also it applies to shoes)
Try thermic wear, scarf, gloves, a jacket or a coat (not a sport one) and hot pads (you can buy them here they are very cheap).
Yes offices have heaters and they are too little so I wont think you will die. Maybe you can buy a heater for your house at nights or a electric blanket but relax.
Also my country has no snow and I survived the north snow this year.
Good luck SHINDE
