Do I need to dress business professional when going on an interview to a job search agency?
I was thinking maybe to wear nice black pants and a shirt, nothing too fancy like a suit or anything. However, I may be wrong. It is an employment agency in Manhattan. What do you recommend?
Wow I am glad I asked! Thanks everybody, you rescued me.

You can’t possibly turn up in jeans and a T-shirt. Like weddings, funeral, celebrations: dress for the occasion. The agency may pass on details of your appearance to their client/your possible future employer. If you want that job dress in a professional manner. One Odd Naive Native
One thing to keep in mind is the industry you are interviewing for. If you are interviewing for a creative position, the standards are more lenient, positions at law firms, etc. would be more conservative in their expectations for how you would appear, as you would expect.
The thing that you can always keep in mind is that you can never really over dress for an interview. Even at a creative agency, no one can ever say that you looked too professional. The more professionally you present yourself, the better foot you put forward. I included below a website that has great tips on interview preparation – from appearance to prepping for typical questions. Good luck in your search! ysja
