If I’m wearing a conservative suit, it it ok to wear a bright color shirt underneath to an interview?

I don’t want to look like I’m going to a funeral, and that’s the message the mirror is giving me with this suit. I’m considering a red blouse under the black jacket, with matching shoes and handbag.

My interview is at a job where, if I am hired, I will likely end up wearing jeans most days, “business casual” is considered dressy in my line of work.

I think it will attract the employer from talking to you to looking at your shirt. You’re better off wearing something that compliments the rest of the outfit. A color that blends in without being too obvious. People lose attention when something that stands out attracts them from thinking correctly.

My co-worker has these two bright colored shirts; orange and lime green. Everytime I see him wearing it, I can only think of “wow, that’s bright”. Mrs Apple

I think a splash of color under a business suit is a great way to express personality while still looking respectful and put together.

    GO FOR IT! ~Jack~

As a general rule, no. It isn’t alright. You want the employer to remember you, not your shirt. Steve B

Be conservative with the colour of the shirt eg White, or lightish brown. I would much rather go with White. Not that I am a man, but to keep yourself in the best possible saleability to potential Employers. ally59man
