Is it wrong for a guy to wear a suit and tie in a business casual work environment?
My man just got himself a new job. He has always hated the business casual dress code. He wants instead to wear a suit a suit and tie. Is it a bad idea for him to dress that formally when nobody else does.

Yes. Unfortunately for him at a new job the key is to conform. If you can’t become like everyone else you’ll be rejected as an odd cog in an already well oiled machine. If the dress code is business casual he needs to dress business casual. Not more, not less. If he underdresses, he shows that he doesn’t care for the new work environment and that makes him look bad. If he overdresses it will cause those around him to feel like they are less and people never like to feel lesser than someone else. You don’t want to be the goody two shoes of the office. It’s not enjoyable to dress a way you don’t like, but it’s even less enjoyable to dress for a job you don’t like because your co-workers dislike you. Even if they aren’t outright, it’s all subliminal and will irritate them. Andrew
