Read the owner’s manual……I did, and made a really nice fall style for my baked beans (reheated, of course) :-) kaliroadrager

When i do mine in the microwave, i prick the potoatoes with a fork first, then put them on for 3 mins, then turn them over for a couple more mins.
It depends on what type of microwave and what size your pototoes are for the time in the microwave.
Just do a couple of mins at a time untill, a fork goes into the pototoes easily. twikletoes

    Pierce all over.
Cook for 3 minutes then turn over and cook for another 2 minutes.
    Let stand for one minute.
    Smother in your favourite topping.
Yummy!! I know what my lunch is going to be. spashoe

Make sure you have a russet potato, wash it good, getting all the loose stuff off the out side, now take a fork and poke some holes on the top, going kind of deep.
Get some olive oil, salt, black pepper and seasoning, I just use garlic powder, but you can use creole seasoning, old bay seasoning – almost any savory spice mix you like.
Rub the outside with olive oil, then rub your seasonings in – the more holes you made with the fork with determine how much flavor gets through to the flesh of the potato, otherwise it will just have a nice seasoned skin.

Now put that potato in a piece of parchment paper, fold the edges under, nothing fancy, and put in the microwave for about 1 to 3 minutes depending on the size – just give it a little squeeze between minutes to see if it’s ready. When it’s cooked, take off the parchment paper, and let it sit on the counter for a few minutes – the skin will magically crisp a little, just like if it had been baked in the oven.

You can make the same tater in the oven, just wrap in foil and bake for 30 to 35 minutes, depending on the size of the tater. Lorri N
