I have a job interview tomorrow and am sort of confused on what to wear. When applying for the job the add said that the “attire is Business casual, but not sloppy Business casual” WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? When I think of Business casual I think a suit. However Im in Texas and it is HOT. Any suggestions, I really need this job.

I work in a Business Casual job and generally people wear dress pants and a blouse, sweater, plain fitted shirt. I’d say you could wear a knee length skirt or capris with a nice shirt but nothing fancy. Then maybe wedges or flats instead of heels…or low heels. To me a suit is business without the casual. wis_girl

I consider “sloppy business” casual to be blouses and pants/skirts that reveal too much(show underwear, too much cleavage)
Also, this is going to sound dumb, but shoes make an impression.

So, to be safe, I’d wear a light blouse with quarter sleaves, dress slacks/pants, and clean, shined, closed toe dress shoes/heals. razzy

To be safe, I would simply wear a pair of black dress pants, a nice blouse, and black 1-2 inch heels with black trouser socks. Make sure your hair looks nice and you look put together.

To me, “sloppy” business casual is wearing stretch knit pants with a cotton shirt of some sort untucked, with casual shoes.

Traditional business casual is dockers pants, with a tucked in polo or oxford type shirt. and decent casual shoes. But I wouldn’t wear that to a job interview. Agent99

A suit is business attire… Business casual usually refers to: slacks or business-type skirt-short or long (something you would typically wear as a suit), black is usually best, but gray is also okay, and an nice blouse, and dress shoes. Traditional jewelry, such as: stud earrings and a nice simple necklace, and wedding ring are acceptable accessories. Nerdy Engr Chick
