Sam D asked:

I am starting an internship with our state legislature and need to have business professional dress. I own a few solid black suits already. It will pinch me to buy new suits now, so I was wondering if my solid black suits would work for my internship.

In my searching I have found that half the world says solid black suits are okay for work, and the other half disagree. So I am looking to see if anyone can justify their answer or convince me in my situation.

So… can I wear my solid black suits to a state government internship?

I think it would be highly appropriate. That is definitely business professional. If you can find a copy, read the book “Dress for Success.” nam_miles

It’s good, but not multiple black suits. Don’t ever wear pinstripes. Maybe get a navy and/or brown suit as well. You don’t want to look like you came from a funeral all the time. Your Friendly Jewish Accountant

yes it is highly recommended business attire. if you can’t afford new suits right now, just spring for some new shirts or ties. black goes with everything. i think that you will look very professional. good luck!! Brown Sugar
