To be a colonel you would have to be in probably 20+ years. It is odd that he has his rank on a civilian suit however. If you don’t believe him you can ask to see his military ID card and it should have his rank on there if he is active duty. Alexander

    Again…

Less than 5% of Officer ever reach full Colonel (O-6). And most that do make about their 24-26th years of service which would make them about 46-48 (Officers typically start at 22 yo unless prior enlisted).

Ask him what pay grade he was? (Colonel = O-6 pay grade)

Ask him if he graduated the War College? (80% of Colonels have)

Ask him what battalion he commanded (95% of all Colonels have commanded battalions…those that haven’t were in specialties like medical, law or chaplains)

Notice I said I am an Army Officer…I might know that I am talking about just a little bit…

I have never seen a military retiree wear his rank on a civilian suit. It certainly isn’t appropriate wear of a uniform item. Phil

I have seen tons of vets wear their rank or medals on their civ suits. it just shows that they are proud of what they did.

usually its Miniature versions of their medals or rank.

how do you tell if he was the real deal? just ask, if he is retired then he would have a retired ID card. Harleyman96
