My parents run a business in downtown los angeles and I usually would help them out when I was not busy with school. Now that Ive finished school I have now assumed a more full time position at their company and my parents want me to dress more formally since they have given me business cards with my name and job title on them ‘deputy administrator’ (which is pretty much like assistant manager) and I am now on the company payroll and am now being payed like everyone else (i receive a company check every 2 weeks).

Today i dressed myself with these items: light blue long sleeved shirt, dark blue neck tie, belt, gray business casual pants, and black business casual shoes. Now my dad is insisting I also wear a suit coat to work everyday but I honestly just feel like a snob if I wear the suit coat on top of what im already wearing, especially for a kind of young person (im 23) like myself…

So what do women think if they see a young guy like me in a suit? would you think I’m a snob or something?

Normally, I wear it down, but I’m afraid that I look too young. I am 25 yrs old, and have a young looking face (ppl often mistake me for a high schooler). I have long, straight, blond hair. I am starting an internship with our state legislature and need to have business professional dress. I own a few solid black suits already. It will pinch me to buy new suits now, so I was wondering if my solid black suits would work for my internship.

In my searching I have found that half the world says solid black suits are okay for work, and the other half disagree. So I am looking to see if anyone can justify their answer or convince me in my situation.

So… can I wear my solid black suits to a state government internship?

I’m Hispanic so my skin color is tanned/olive and brown eyes and brown hair. I recently purchased a business suit for a luncheon/meeting we’ll be having in a few weeks. It is black with beige and lime green pinstripes.

So I need to know what shades would be complimentary to the suit without being too…”2 dollar h00ker” if you get my drift. I’d like to make my eyes pop a bit, but without looking like I just got back from The Emerald City.
