What should a man wear to opening night at the symphony?

I am going to opening night concert at Alice Tully Hall in Manhattan. Does anyone know if a business suit would be ok to wear? I am hoping I would not have to wear black tie attire? Anyone know?

An idea for a bold/slightly eccentric male suit?

I am looking for a bold suit, for a more casual school prom.
I have considered a combination of black tie, with a waistcoat and perhaps a suit, which does not match, for a more individual style, rather than a business suit or a tuxedo.
