Is it wrong for a guy to wear a suit and tie in a business casual work environment?

My man just got himself a new job. He has always hated the business casual dress code. He wants instead to wear a suit a suit and tie. Is it a bad idea for him to dress that formally when nobody else does.

Should I wear a suit for a promotion interview?

I’ve been at this company for 3 years. It’s a business casual atmosphere. Two other guys went for the interview in their regular Bus. Cas work clothes. I don’t want to try and show them up, but I think it would be cool if I wore a suit. It may show the interviewers I really want the job.
Note: The position would also be a business casual dress. What should I do? Thanks in advance!
