Lawyer Dude asked:

Okay it’s hot as h*ll in New York City right now and I’d love to find something else to wear than a business suit to client meetings.

The problem is I’m an attorney, and given the nature of both my profession and my clientele, the navy blue pinstripe suit tends to be the attire of choice.

Does anybody have suggestions for an alternate wardrobe choice? Let’s assume for the sake of the argument that “khakis and a polo shirt business casual” is not in the offing.

I’m especially interested in hearing from other New York City-based professionals.

I am a student and often have to dress business casual or professional. Unfortunately for me I also have to walk a lot and it snows a lot (I am in Indiana). I am never sure what to wear on my feet. I don’t want to walk through the snow in heels but I also don’t want to be wearing snow shoes with a business suit! I thought about changing shoes when I get to where I am going but I don’t want to lug around snow shoes! What is the solution?

However Im in Texas and it is HOT. Any suggestions, I really need this job.

I am trying to dress nicer for work tomorrow since the big big boss will be there, so I wanted to wear a suit jacket, but wear it open. The problem is nothing I put under it looks right. Basically all I have is button down blouses, and when I leave them untucked they are the same length as the suit jacket and I don’t know if it looks sloppy. When I tuck them in I think it looks awful. I don’t know if I can wear a collared blouse with a collared suit jacket. I’m obviously not good at this at all!! Any ideas??

I have been told in the past that no matter what the interviewer says, wear a suit. I have also been told, don’t ignore what the interviewer wants. if they invite you to wear business casual, do so.

I’ve been at this company for 3 years. It’s a business casual atmosphere. I don’t want to hurt my chances in the interview process if I don’t wear a suit. What should I do? Thanks in advance!

I have a very smart loose fitting suit that looks perfectly OK with a very nice shirt buttoned up with no tie

I like that look

A safe option is the suit with classic white shirt and tie (which I don’t like)

Does ‘Business Casual absolutely necessitate a tie or can I get away with the first option?

Job is for ground crew.
