How well can the interviewer tell that you’re just wearing slacks and a sports coat (same color) instead of an actual business suit?

Would you wear boots to interview for new job?

bombastic asked:

For a job interview with a company that caters to upscale clients, do you think it would be appropriate to wear a chic business suit (A-line skirt falls slightly below the knees) with some nice black boots, or would you play it safe and wear pumps and dark hosiery? I have the right clothes, hairstyle and everything else. It’s just that I hate for my legs and feet to be cold an it is cold outside right now. Are boots still considered inappropriate in this situation? Should I tough it out and wear pumps? Any interviewers or human resources professionals out there? I’d appreciate your honest opinions.

I suspect a business suit would be over the top?

How should a young man dress for interviews for jobs such as waiting staff, kitchen porter, general assistant at stores etc?
And what about jeans and a shirt, would that be a no-no?

I am interviewing with a conservative (not political!) organization. What should I wear? I thought about a business suit with peep toe pumps, but is that out of line? Should they be closed-toe shoes? What would you wear?

It is the middle of summer and I will die of heat stroke if I wear a business suit. Will I be thought of as less professional if I wear black pants and a smart-looking burgundy shirt to an interview?

I really don’t want to overdress, i was thinking dresspants and a nice long sleeve shirt would do. I think that wearing an entire business suit isn’t really appropiate, but its my first job interview so I have no clue.
