I was thinking some nice pair of slacks and blouse or should I wear a business suit

I have an interview at Ross tomorrow morning, and i am curious as to how i should dress? I don’t want to over dress because at ross they don’t wear a uniform, so i’m curious if i should be a little more laid back with my outfit or wear like a business suit? like should i wear black shoes, black shirt, and nice jean slacks?

How well can the interviewer tell that you’re just wearing slacks and a sports coat (same color) instead of an actual business suit?

I am trying to dress nicer for work tomorrow since the big big boss will be there, so I wanted to wear a suit jacket, but wear it open. The problem is nothing I put under it looks right. Basically all I have is button down blouses, and when I leave them untucked they are the same length as the suit jacket and I don’t know if it looks sloppy. When I tuck them in I think it looks awful. I don’t know if I can wear a collared blouse with a collared suit jacket. I’m obviously not good at this at all!! Any ideas??

Are certain shirts more acceptable than others? How formal is too formal? Do slacks have to match when wearing a sports coat?

but i have a nice collar blouse and slacks, is that considered ok to wear to my interview? this position that i applied for is with the LVMPD and i’m really unsure if what i will wear tomorrow will hurt my chances on getting the job.

The place where I will be (hopefully) interning is a police department. The position is clerical (i.e., answering phones basically). Will a collared long sleeve, necktie, slacks, and dress shoes suffice?
