Wearing a suit to business casual workplace?

business suit
Dominic L asked:

The official dress code of the company I work in is business casual and I always wear nice clothes. However today I decided to wear a suit because I like it and I look very good in it. The problem is that I’ve been getting a lot of flack(ok, jokes) from co-workers today like they’ve never seen somebody wear a suit before. Am I breaking some sort of ethical code or what?

Always dress for the job you want not for the job you have. “Casually” ignore your co-workers. judith11center

To fit into the ‘culture’ you should dress like everyone else. If you want to stand out, dress slightly above the norm (eg. pressed shirt, pressed dress pants, nice tie), but a suit is overkill (sorry). Minns
