What is the expected business attire for engineers in Norway?
Wisegirl asked:
My husband will be visiting Norway for a business trip and would like to dress appropriately. He was planning on wearing suits. Is this acceptable or would he be overly dressed?

Attire is generally quite casual, jeans and shirt is normal, but that does depend on the nature of the meetings, if it’s contract negotiation and similar with the company big wigs it might be dressier.
I’d suggest shirt, tie and sports jacket with khaki’s or similar, at least then he can take the tie off and be more casual. Check out the video for Aker here and you’ll be able to see what’s “typical”.
To be honest suits are fine if that’s what he’s comfortable with. It will depend a little on the specific firm as if it’s more international it’s probably dressier than a more norwegian firm.
