What to wear for a pizza restaurant interview?

Jess asked:

I have an interview tomorrow for a chain pizza restaurant opening in my area. I know it’s not necessary to wear a business suit or something that fancy. What should I wear? I’m a 20 year old female.

I was thinking of wearing a pair of gray dress pants, a white button up blouse with a plum-colored cropped cardigan over it. Would this be okay? Or do you think it’s too much? I hate going to interviews and being dressed nicer than the person interviewing me. I feel like it’s insulting to them.

probably slacks and a nice looking shirt. or a pair of your best jeans and a modest, mature looking shirt. I think that’d be your best bet. emilyyyy{thegreat}.

It is not insulting to them. You should always dress one level up from them. They already have a job, you are looking for one. The outfit you described will do fine. Be sure to wear nice shoes, too. no sneakers or sandals. Flats or low heel pumps will do. Hope you get the job! rjsman70

I am a supervisor ..if you came to me for am interview.I would like to see a skirt a little above the knee and a nice clean blouse..Clean pulled back hair and very little makeup. Flats for shoes…no sneakers ..no open toe shoe.Working around food I like hair clean and pulled back.

That tells me you are a clean respectable person.

No short short skirts .no low cut blouse ..and NO heavy makeup. KAT

LMAO I know how you feel about being dressed nicer than the person interviewing you. I went for an interview at Hollister a month ago and I was wearing black slacks, a pinstriped dress shirt and a charcoal gray sweater vest. He was wearing a polo shirt, ripped jeans and flip flops. :Oo

I was thinking somewhere along the lines of a crisp pear of khakis and a white button down shirt.
But what you mentioned sounds fine. Non Curo

Wearing nothing at all will insure that you get the job, HOWEVER, for your reputation this is quite unorthodox and unrecommended.

I suggest (if your going to be a waitress) that you wear something that you look good in, (not inappropriate, just nice) this will tell your manager that you can look good in something, that’s usually what allot of restaurants like.

Don’t wear allot of makeup and make sure you have your hair up somehow, expecially if your gona be in a sevice with food.

I think that would be perfect. I was always told to dress for the job you want to have not the one you have.Good luck at your interview. Roseann

I would probably go with a nice pair of kackie pants and a button up blouse. It is still professional without being overdressed, but just make sure you are comfortable and feel confinident. Amy
